IN LOVING MEMORY OF OGBUESHI (SIR) JOHN P.C. OBI, BELOVED HUSBAND, FATHER, BROTHER, AND UNCLE

Ogbueshi (Sir) John Peter Chukwuka Obi With Gratitude To Almighty God For A Life Well Spent, The Ogbueshi Obi Family Of Umuaji Quarters, Asaba Delta State, Announces the Transition To Eternal Glory, on March 4, 2010, Of Our Husband, Father, Grand Father, Brother And Uncle.

Ogbuechi (Sir) John P.C. Obi was born to the family of Ogbueshi (Sir) William P.C. Obi of Umuaji Quarters, Asaba in the year of our Lord July 22nd 1941.

He attended Holy Cross Primary School in Benin -City from 1947-1954, then Immaculate Conception College (ICC) Benin-City from 1955-1959 and obtained the school's best West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) result in 1959.

He then attended the University of Nigeria Nsukka from 1961-1965 where he graduated as the overall best student in the Dept Of Economics.

In June 1965 he won the Sneal Bronfman Doctorial Fellowship Award in Economic Development tenable at the Mcgill University, Canada.He declined the offer only to accept a management position with the Nigeria Tobacco Company Limited a subsidiary of the British-American Tobacco Company.

In 1971, he was admitted to New York University Graduate School Of Business where he obtained an MBA degree in January 1973.

From August 1973-June 1979, he joined Vicks International Corporation, a subsidiary of Richardson Vicks Inc, USA as marketing manager, West African Division.

He became the Managing Director of Vitalink Pharmaceutical Industries Limited from July 1979 - Sept 1992 when the company was acquired by Proctor And Gamble Inc, USA.

He became the director of the Nigerian Branch from October 1992 - June 1997 until his retirement in June 1997.

He was a member of the Nigerian Institute Of Management. A very devout catholic, he belongs to several religious organizations in the catholic church including the honored order of the Knights Of St Murumba where he rose to become the Grand Knight of his council.

He also was a member of the Elitist Falcon Club and rose to become the National Vice Chairman of the club and the Chairman of the Lagos chapter. He was also a member of the Ikoyi Club in Lagos.

Married to Lady Celestina Adora Obi nee Okolo, He is survived by 4 children and grand-children. He is also survived by his mother Madam Brigid M Obi, 4 brothers, 4 sisters, and several nephews and nieces.
